Fluorescent and Luminescent Roses from Ecuador: When Flowers Begin to Glow 28-10-2025 / News

By popular demand from our clients, we’re taking a closer look at one of the most fascinating innovations on today’s floral market — fluorescent and luminescent dyed roses from Ecuador.

At first glance, right after unboxing, they look like classic white roses. And that’s not surprising. The base variety most often used is Mondial: a large-headed white rose with firm petals and outstanding vase life. Its even shape and dense texture allow for smooth pigment absorption and perfectly clean light effects. Mondial also guarantees stability and durability. The petals retain their shape and freshness even after several days in water.

But once you start playing with light and shadow, the magic begins: the petals change color as if enchanted. The images below are not filters or visual effects. The glow you see is entirely real

The first to pioneer this technique was the Ecuadorian farm Ceres Farms, where the fluorescent and luminescent dyeing technology was introduced. Today, more Ecuadorian farms are joining this trend. Since each farm often gives its own name to a similar color effect, you may see various names for roses with identical light-reactive properties.

Below, we take a closer look at two types of these roses. Unpacked directly from Ceres Farms boxes — each revealing its unique character under different lighting conditions.

Fluorescent Roses: The Light That Lives Within the Petals

Fluorescent roses from Ceres Farms are represented by two captivating varieties — Sky in the Dark and Green in the Dark:

  • Sky in the Dark — emits a soft blue glow in the dark
  • Green in the Dark — shines with an emerald-green radiance, as if the flower breathes light from within

The principle is both simple and ingenious: these roses absorb light energy and then release it in darkness.

The fluorescence effect makes every bouquet come alive: mysterious, enchanting, and truly unique.

Luminescent (Chameleon) Roses: A Play of Color Under the Sun

Equally mesmerizing are luminescent, or chameleon roses, another innovative line by Ceres Farms.

This series includes Kamaleon Sky Blue and Kamaleon Violet:

  • Kamaleon Sky Blue — develops a delicate bluish edge when exposed to sunlight.
  • Kamaleon Violet — shows a soft violet-lilac shimmer along the petal rim under sun exposure

The effect depends on sunlight intensity and exposure time. The brighter and longer the light, the deeper the shade becomes.

Once removed from direct sunlight, the glow gradually fades, and the petals return to their pristine white.

This natural “breathing” of color makes chameleon roses highly desirable for dynamic lighting designs from weddings and photo sessions to artistic floral installations.

Every stem of these roses is the result of precise technology and meticulous craftsmanship. The dyeing process is carried out in specialized on-farm facilities, under strict quality and safety control.

Fluorescent and luminescent roses combine science and creativity, inspiring floral designers and adding a true WOW effect to event décor and arrangements.

These dyed roses are available in lengths from 40 to 80 cm.

As the process requires preparation, orders should be placed at least 3 days before departure from the farm.
